Mute

Mute
by Kiara Reyes

Silence filled the entire room
As people were hoping the war would end soon,
Not knowing it was only the beginning of a doom
Citizens contemplating the land would be given a boon

Silence filled the entire room
As the government imposed this so-called Martial Law
Instead of peace, there was only fume
And everyone else was still raw

Silence filled the entire room
As if their mouths have been stapled multiple times
Troupe of soldiers ready to shoot, room's now a gloom
All because Apo gave permission to commit crimes

Silence filled the entire room
All because no one was left
A small amount of hope, just as tiny as a mushroom
For the survivors were scared and immediately became mute and deaf
