Why do Filipinos speak conyo?

Conyo means speaking in Tagalog and at the same time you speak in English. Filipinos are using this, mostly the Millennial. To be honest, it’s quite annoying to hear someone saying or speaking in conyo but sometimes it’s funny because of the terms used. This happens when someone is trying to be sosyal or literally maarte in some ways. For example, your vocabulary consist of some words like “medj”, “hassle”, “G ka na ba?” and “BV” which means “Bad Vibes” however most Filipinos are using that every single day.

I’ve seen and heard those conyo words in public and through social media. You are called a Tita also known as “Titas of Manila” when you can't understand the language of the present generation although people are just creative in using those words and we often use those nowadays. People are using “Scoobs”, “Grumps”, “Carps”, “Starbs” and “Sharks”, this are the creative terms that the Millennial are using these days that will make you say “Dami namang alam nito!”. I thought of those words when my friend started talking to me like “Hey, Carps ka ba tomorrow?” and I’m like “What? Carps? Is that even a word?” then she explained it to me afterwards. Why Carps? Carps means carpet in short “carps”, in other  term it’s called rug and when you spell the word rug its R-U-G and there it goes, R U G? simply “Are you game?” crazy right?

For me, Filipinos are unique and creative when it comes to those things compared to other races. We have our own ways of expressing our feelings to each other and we still wear a smile even though we are facing a lot of problems in our life because we are considered as the world’s happiest citizens and that is the reason why I’m proud to be called as a Filipino.
