Please Read me, Please Read Them
This is
the time where the book is too open and easy to read. Contents of the book are
already exposed. Flaws and positive characteristics are too obvious. There are
lots of good and bad reviews. The ratio between them are close. But of course,
the books doesn’t care about the reviews. The books only objective is to do
what is made to do. But, are the books too foolish to ignore the reviews? Of course,
not all books are the same. Some books reflects on the reviews and try to
change them. Some books use the reviews as an inspiration for the next volume. You
are probably asking why would I use books in a blog spot for Filipino definition.
Well, just like other books, Filipinos get ignored and criticized easily.
Just like
a very thick Oxford dictionary, Filipinos are “hard”. They are hardworking,
they work with their heart. They work all day to provide for the family. They
are hard headed, when they see a sign that tells “BAWAL TUMAWID DITO,
NAKAKAMATAY” or “BAWAL MAGTAPON NG BASURA DITO”, they will still disobey the
sign. They are having a hard time to move on. The perfect example here is the
2016 elections’ Vice President candidate Bong Bong Marcos. It has been months
since the elections took place, and he still can’t accept people don’t like him
este don’t voted for him. They are
hard to understand. When you ask them “Kumain ka na?” they will say “Busog pa
ako”.
Filipinos
have strong ties with the bible. They are very religious. Sometimes, they
conduct a festival to honor a saint’s birthday. They also have this “pabasa”
for the holy week. Which, I think it is only done in the Philippines. And of
course, who would not know the famous Black Nazarene procession that really
signifies how religious Filipinos are.
Filipinos
are like a joke book. Their whole life is a joke, JOKE (pun intended).
Filipinos have a unique sense of humor. Even
a tragic calamity hit them, they will still smile. They show their resiliency
by smiling. It is their greatest strength. They see a brighter future even if
they have a rice grain of hope.
Just like
an encyclopedia full of pictures, Filipinos are creative. They make something
from nothing. You can find newspaper bags, bamboo bags, unique recycled vases
and more. You can also find a house that is made up of plastic bottles (you can
say that’s stupid, but it’s creative). Another example of their creativity is
they made up so many legends and folk tales about things. Like the legend of
the pineapple, the legend of the salted egg and etc.
Filipinos
hate books. Wait, did I just wrote there that Filipinos hate books which I used
to describe them? Oh, yes. Does it sound familiar? “Filipinos have a bigger
enemy than the Americans, and it would be themselves.” There you go. Filipinos
can’t really unite as one if they still have crab mentality. It is observable
in their government today. Two parties are destroying each other’s reputation. What
can I say, they are different books. You can’t just put an encyclopedia in a
group of dictionaries, can you?
The books
are not yet published. So as the Filipinos’ chances to change themselves. The book
is too open to read. They can see their own flaws. They just need to rewrite
it. Don’t let them deteriorate the books, which they are doing now. Filipinos
need to listen to other countries. The books should listen to the poems and
essays. They are the future of their country. They may be shorter, but oh boy,
they really make a lot of sense. They may not have a title page like the books
have, but they are worth reading. If they will get a good writer soon, oh this
country is not far from heaven.
